Psychoanalysis of the Lacanian Orientation in Ireland
Psychoanalytic Formation in the School of Lacan
ICLO-NLS’s Psychoanalytic Formation Programme has run in Ireland since 2009.
The Irish Circle of the Lacanian Orientation (ICLO) is a Society of the New Lacanian School (NLS).
The NLS, together with the three other European Schools – the École de la Cause freudienne (ECF, founded by Jacques Lacan), ELP (Spain), SLP (Italy) and the three Schools in the Americas – EOL (Argentina), EBP (Brazil), and NEL – constitute the seven Schools of the World Association of Psychoanalysis (WAP).
The NLS, along with the three other European Schools, partakes of the EuroFederation of Psychoanalysis, an association that oversees the development of psychoanalysis throughout Europe.
ICLO Society of the NLS
The School promotes the transmission of psychoanalysis and the training of psychoanalysts. The fundamental pillars of the School are the device of the Pass, a procedure whereby someone declaring himself a psychoanalyst may verify the end of his or her own experience of psychoanalysis; and the Cartel as a framework which sustains the work elaboration of each member, the study and production of psychoanalytic knowledge, within a small group.
In this sense, work for the School is expected from its members, starting from the Societies to which they belong. This work is linked closely to the training provided by the School, which is essentially personal analysis and supervision of the practice. The praxis and doctrine of psychoanalysis is therefore distinguished from what the University discourse conveys.
As a constituent of the School and the international community of the Lacanian Orientation, ICLO-NLS is concerned with the singular formation of analysts who submit their practice to control (supervision), and research within the field of psychoanalysis, which takes as its basis the contemporary subject of the unconscious. This research aims at the various aspects of the psychoanalytic clinic, and other fields such as the arts, politics, history, the social context and philosophy.
If psychoanalysis is of interest to you, you can apply to participate in ICLO activities. To be notified of our activities/events, you can subscribe to our e-mailing list here ([email protected]). If you are interested in joining or starting a Cartel, click here or email [email protected].
